地下、前卫、边缘：中国的苦儿群体看似可见，实则透明，就像房间里的大象。尽管摇滚乐队二手玫瑰以变装舞台造型而闻名，取得了巨大成功，但大多数男性仍认为私下穿丝袜是一种可耻的行为，并不会向家人透露。
在与女性和跨性别女性约会后，我发现自己对做一名苦儿更有信心，也更愿将苦儿无产者置于聚光灯下。我们聚在一起做这个项目，将它视为一个新的开端。我们不害怕公开发表对变装和性别转换的看法，并准备好接受批评。
面对社会同侪压力和对个人选择的限制，苦儿们的打扮不仅是自我表达，也是一种存在形式。不屈服于主流规范，坚定自我的生活。既然宇宙继续扩张并许诺了我们的延展，我们会通过这次拍摄找寻自由，蓬勃向上。
背景信息
张余歌（化名）出生并成长于中国北方的农村地区。八岁时被诊断为躁郁症，他接受过包括电击在内的多种心理治疗。虽然张仍然挂职在一家国有工厂担任电气工程师，但自 2021 年他的独子去往上海读大学并在德国做交换生以来，他已停止了上班打卡的日子。张过着游牧生活，住在朋友的工作室、废弃的建筑物或酒吧里。

Underground, edgy, marginal: queers in China seem visible yet transparent, like elephants in broad daylight. Despite the success and popularity of the rock band Second Hand Roses, who are famous for their cross-dress stage styling, most men find wearing stockings in private shameful conduct and therefore would not disclose such behaviors to their families.
After dating women and trans-women, I find myself more confident in being queer and more comfortable in putting the queer proletarians under the spotlight. Together with Zhang, we want to clarify that we are not afraid of openly publishing our views on cross-dressing and gender-bending, as a start. We do it in the face of the whole world and are ready for criticism.
With social pressure and the limitation of choices, queers are dressing up not only as self-expression but forms of existence. By not giving in to the mainstream norms, we find and live our own lives as much as the universe continues to provide. We would seek out our freedom via this photo shoot and thrive.
Background Information
Zhang was born and raised in the rural areas of northern China. Being diagnosed as bipolar at the age of eight, he has been through numerous psychological treatment which includes electric shock. Although remaining on the payroll as an electrical engineer at a government-owned rural factory, Zhang has ceased to go to work since 2021 when his only son started university in Shanghai and is currently an exchange student in Germany. Zhang leads a nomadic lifestyle, staying in friends’ studios, deserted buildings, or pubs where he works part-time.
